Breast Reduction

Women with very large, pendulous breasts may experience a variety of medical problems caused by the excessive weight–from back and neck pain and skin irritation to skeletal deformities and breathing problems. Bra straps may leave indentations in their shoulders. Unusually large breasts can make a woman feel extremely self-conscious. Breast reduction is designed for such women.
More Details
The procedure removes fat, glandular tissue, and skin from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter, and firmer. It can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. The goal is to give the woman smaller, better-shaped breasts in proportion with the rest of her body.

Breast Reduction is a safe operation with a quick comfortable recovery. Even though the operation leaves scars around the areola and on the underside of the breast, this operation ranks highest in patient satisfaction. In most cases the scars diminish to become flat lines.

Of all plastic surgery procedures, breast reduction results in the quickest body-image changes. You’ll be rid of the physical discomfort of large breasts, your body will look better proportioned, and clothes will fit you better. It is performed under a general anesthetic either in one of our office surgery centers or at a local hospital (if the procedure is to be covered by insurance).

Breast reduction surgery will occasionally  be covered by health insurance though every company requires that certain criteria be met. We are happy to work with our patients to obtain coverage, though in recent years the insurance companies have become very restrictive to the point that more than eighty percent of our patients pay out of pocket for the procedure, as they would for a cosmetic procedure. We are able to keep the costs down to a reasonable and affordable range.
